Overview

John is a technical director in the Division of Quality, Evaluation & Health Outcomes at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS, formerly HCFA) in Washington, DC. He is responsible for leading the implementation of a national quality program for Medicaid and the Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP). His policy expertise is in clinical performance measurement and the use of health information technology (HIT) in physician offices. As well, he leads several Medicaid initiatives related to patient safety, health disparities, and medical home models. He is also responsible for providing technical assistance to states on external quality review reporting, public health collaborations, and emerging quality of care and payment issues under health care reform. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland and an Executive Master's in Leadership from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
