Research Interests

Since 2002, Jake has taught in the Department of Computer and Physical Sciences at Southeastern Oklahoma State University as an adjunct instructor.

Teaching Interests

Academically, Jake earned his Bachelor’s (1998) in physics and his Master’s (2002) in computer information systems—both from Southeastern. His research interests include, but are not limited to:

  • Using technology to preserve and sustain the cultural knowledge of particular ethnocultural groups (e.g., Native American tribes);
  • Supporting the decision-making process for leaders in organizations that seek to mitigate social ills (e.g., poverty) or promote education and advancement for underprivileged socio-economic populations;
  • Fostering a culture of knowledge cultivation within an organization or group where information management practices are underutilized;
  • Understanding the psychological and social implications associated with information system use and change;
  • Promoting unobtrusive information technology practices driven by the needs of people, businesses, or organizations;
  • Exploring practical applications of knowledge management among communities of practice; and
  • Studying the evolution of information management and technology in a postmodern context.

Professional Interests

Professionally, Jake is the Director of Tribal Research for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma—the third largest Native American tribe in the United States. In the three years prior to this post, he served as a grant writer for the Tribe.

Personal Interests

Personally, the two most important things in Jake’s life are his wife and their daughter. Beyond that his hobbies include: traveling to new and beautiful places, reading and writing poetry, studying philosophy, staying active and eating as healthy as possible, growing an organic vegetable garden, adding to his extensive music collection, and watching movies.
