Grace Giraldo

My name is Grace Giraldo.  I am in my first year of the Doctorate of Professional Studies program at Syracuse University.  I earned my Masters Degree is in Management Information Systems from Marshall University in West Virginia.  My bachelor’s degree is in Computer Science from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico.  Along with these degrees I hold several professional certifications focused in technology and information security, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Cisco Certified Design Associate.

I am currently an Information Risk Lead, VP for the Credit Card division of JP Morgan Chase, a global industry leader in financial services.  My primary responsibility is to serve as a business unit consultant representing Information Security to ensure secure best practices are followed to match our Information Risk goals. Engage in business initiatives; provide risk management, engineering and requirements on a regular basis.  Execute threat analysis and security architecture reviews to assess gaps and opportunities. Collaborate with management; provide guidance of mitigation of risk issues, audit findings and risk assessments. Support Information Risk programs such as Application Security, Vulnerability Management and Third Party Review.

I have almost 20 years experience in infrastructure technology, which combines network, servers and end stations.  My experience began with a short tenure in academia, supporting the student and educator computer labs.  I moved to the financial industry when I began my employment with the Internal Revenue Service in Martinsburg, WV.  My responsibilities included data center production support for the Individual Master files.  It was then I grew to understand the importance of data and data privacy by learning access controls in place to prevent data disclosures. I engaged in self study and certification programs to maintain my technical skill updated and completed my Master’s degree in MIS.    After 6 years with the Treasury Department I moved to the private sector.  I joined First USA Bank, which now, after several mergers is part of JP Morgan Chase.  Within my 12 years with the bank, I have worked as the Executive Support Lead, Infrastructure support for Online Banking and Information Risk Management Lead for IT Risk.
