Overview
Deborah brings an array of skills and experience to the classroom. Her experience in the fields of IT, education, and non-profit organizations combined with her knowledge of technology, facilitation, project/time management and presentation delivery makes her a very valuable team member.
Deb’s
undergraduate teaching focuses on the important balance of “soft” and technical
skills students need to not only survive but to thrive in today’s world. Her interest in this topic comes from more
than 30 years of experience as an IT professional, adjunct instructor, and
consultant at non-profit organizations throughout the CNY community. Her IT
roles have included that of analyst, Help Desk/Call Center manager, and ERP development
manager. Each role helped broaden her perspective of
the technical and non-technical IT issues faced by medium-to-large size
organizations. Her active consulting
practice allows her to use her IT experience to help non-profit organizations
deploy and make effective use of information and technology. She currently teaches undergraduate courses in Information Presentation and Database Management.
Deborah has a B.S. degree from Oswego State University in computer science with a minor in mathematics. Her graduate degree was earned at Syracuse University in the field of Adult Education. She has served as the Race Director for the Susan G. Komen CNY Race for the Cure for the past 8 years. As Race Director, she is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and evaluation of the largest annual single day fundraiser in Central New York. Revenue from the event nears the 3/4 million dollar mark, attracts over 8,000 participants and utilizes the talents of more than 400 volunteers.
