Anthony Rotolo - Curriculum Vitae

Overview

Anthony Rotolo is a professor at Syracuse University where he specializes in emerging and experimental technologies, including social media and 3D Printing. He is also Captain of the Starship NEXIS, which explores new frontiers in information and science through academic and sponsored projects.

Rotolo's signature course, known by its hashtag #RotoloClass, has been called a "Twitter legend" for its unconventional use of real-time social media in the classroom. Professor Rotolo also teaches #TrekClass: The Star Trek College Course, which examines contemporary issues of science, technology and leadership through the lens of the science-fiction franchise. In 2012, Rotolo created #ElectionClass to explore Social Media and the American Election as it unfolded in real time. Student candidates created social media campaigns for President in a class experience unlike any other. #ElectionClass was featured by the Today Show and other media.

Rotolo is a founder of Wonder, a technology company working on the development of its first consumer product scheduled to be announced later this year.

Rotolo has given a number of public talks and lectures, including invited talks at the United States Senate and NASA's Johnson Space Center, as well as the South by Southwest Interactive Festival and the Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas.
