Overview

I am an Associate Professor of Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation in the School of Education at Syracuse University. I am also the program coordinator for the Masters Degree in Instructional Technology at Syracuse University

My research agenda focuses on implementing design research techniques to create innovative learning technologies. My areas of technological interest are mobile applications for learning, and educational games and simulations (including augmentative reality). My research agenda builds on my interest and experience in various forms of design (i.e. instructional, web, universal, interaction), usability and product evaluation research, and technology development (i.e. web, iPhone, media, games).

Currently I am in the first year of a 3-year NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program (MRI-R²) grant called DiVA that builds robust video data research capacity here at Syracuse University

The grant is part of the Major Research Instrumentation Program (MRI) and provides for the acquisition and implementation of DV capturing and analysis infrastructure over a three-year period. The MRI program serves to increase access to shared tools and infrastructure for research and research training.

I hold a B.S. in English Education and a M.S. in Instructional Media and Curriculum Studies from Oklahoma State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Communications Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
